Free Workshop for musicians and individuals working in the field of music

San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music presents during the year series of free workshops led by experts in the field, and designed to cover many aspects of career development.

June 4, 2008 - 10 am
Workshop 1. Public Relations and Marketing Fundamentals This introductory class would serve as a primer on how to design and implement an effective in-house campaign.
Topics that would be covered are: - The difference between public relations and marketing - Cultivating the media - How to write an effective press release - How to pitch a story to the media - Marketing basics
Length of class: 3 hours with a break
Deliverables: Information packet with articles, sample timeline, and organizational tools for a campaign
June 11, 2008 - 10am
Workshop 2. Strategic Marketing and Public Relations: Developing an Integrated Campaign
This class is for people who have experience (however limited) with public relations and marketing. It can be a companion to the first class or taken on its own.
Topics that would be covered are:
- An overview of public relations and marketing - Strategies for effective writing - Strategies for pitching your project to the media - Media trends - Integrating the internet into a campaign - Navigating social marketing, paid advertising, and websites.
Length of class: 3 hours with a break
Deliverables: Information packet with articles, sample timeline, and organizational tools for a campaign
Speaker:
Brechin Flournoy is cultural omnivore who brings 20 years experience as an independent producer, choreographer, and impresario to her position at Quinn Associates. Brechin earned a BA from Antioch College and her early administrative career included positions as the ODC Theater publicist; Associate Director of Dancers' Group; and as the Founding Director of the San Francisco Butoh Festival for which she was awarded a San Francisco Bay Guardian GOLDIE Award and the Isadora Duncan Award (IZZIE) for Sustained Achievement in the Arts. An accomplished speaker, Brechin has taught PR/Marketing workshops for The Field, Theatre Bay Area, the ArtsReach National Arts Marketing Conference, and for A.M.I. in the Community - a service of Quinn Associates
