Violinist Kate Stenberg and pianist Sarah Cahill have both been deeply committed to new music throughout their careers and have performed hundreds of premieres worldwide. The Stenberg Cahill Duo is dedicated to promoting the American experimental tradition and expanding it through the commissioning of new work. Recent appearances include performances at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Music by the Mountain Festival, Other Minds New Music Séance, Garden of Memory summer solstice concert at the Chapel of the Chimes, Flower Piano at Golden Gate Park Botanical Gardens, and with Nancy Karp + Dancers.

Kate Stenberg, described as "highly virtuosic…full of character and presence” (New Music Box) developed and commissioned new chamber music as co-founder of the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble (1993-1998) and Real Vocal String Quartet (2004-2006) and from 1995-2015 she served as the first violinist of the award winning Del Sol String Quartet. Stenberg has commissioned, recorded and performed hundreds of world premieres by living composers such as Peter Sculthorpe, Per Nørgård, Tania Leon, Charles Amirkhanian, Ronald Bruce Smith and Robert Honstein.

Sarah Cahill, recently called “a sterling pianist and an intrepid illuminator of the classical avant-garde” by The New York Times, has commissioned, premiered, and recorded numerous compositions for solo piano. Over forty composers have dedicated works to Cahill, including John Adams, Terry Riley, Pauline Oliveros, Julia Wolfe, and Ingram Marshall. Her three-CD set of music by Terry Riley and nine works commissioned in honor of his eightieth birthday will be released in the autumn. She teaches at the San Francisco Conservatory, curates a new music series at the Berkeley Art Museum, and hosts a weekly radio show, Revolutions Per Minute, on KALW.
