CHAMBER MUSIC DAY
AUDIENCE COMMENTS 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012
“I have a very limited income, so I go to free concerts or usher to see performances. Thank you very much for the wonderful free experience.” -Lynn, 67
“I just can't stand what passes for music by most modern composers. Noise is noise from a car, bus, or flute. Still, I loved the traditional music and that odd little piece about the bird.” -Ralph
“Very good 20th and 21st-century music programming.” -anonymous, 60
“Small children often interrupted the music. I prefer Renaissance through Romantics so the 20th century works were not much to my taste.” -anonymous, 27
“Good variety. Good to see children listening. How about some young people playing?” -anonymous, 66
“I hadn't planned on going to this today-it was an impulse on the way home. I stayed a lot longer than I'd planned. I liked the variety of composers/styles and the exposure to local music groups, some of which I know only by name. I was expecting 'safe' and standard selections. I like the come and go aspect. Thank you.” -Pilar, 27
“Took my teenage grandson along with my son (his uncle). Teen enjoyed program very much-he really liked The Nice Guy Trio. I wish we could have stayed longer. I hope to see more young people attend next time… Great exposure to all types of ensembles! Thank you! I am a cellist-Picasso Quartet is so promising!” -Phyllis
“Thank you for having this day. I really enjoyed it and am glad to be reintroduced to classical music.” -anonymous, 33
“It was wonderful. I was thrilled to be introduced to the groups and to many of the composers.” -Paula, 63
“A very nice experience. I enjoy being exposed to new music and groups. Thanks for presenting this concert.” -Yope, 77
“It was not at all what I was expecting, but that doesn't mean I was disappointed. I though it would be dry, old music, and it wasn't.” -anonymous, 50
“Wonderful idea! Great variety of music. Interesting to have jazz mixed in with classical and modern chamber music. Now that I know how marvelous it is, I'll bring musical friends next year! I liked that there were brochures of other events in S.F.” -Hilda, 65
“I felt that the programming was very 'safe.' There should have been more edginess to the programming. Perhaps some electric elements like thrash metal, etc. Mixing up the orchestration would have done a great deal to pique my interest.” -Richard, 34
“Excellent variety in groups and pieces for giving audience broad exposure to different types of music. Good length of time per group.” -Michelle, 41 “Very good turnout! Excellent diversity of ensembles and repertoire! Free!” -Bill, 51
“Good balanced program. Really enjoyed it-thanks! It would be helpful to have a short list of local restaurants.” -anonymous, 73
“Thank you for the excellent program and for keeping fine arts democratic and available to all.” -anonymous, 62

“Good acoustics. Hard seats! Good turn around between ensembles. Lots of unusual music. Enthusiastic audience.” -anonymous, 58
“This is my second CMD, and it was a wonderful experience that I hope you can continue! I also present an arts festival here in SF, so I know it is not as simple or easy to do as you make it seem. Quite wonderful!!!” -anonymous, 56
“I don't know what genius had the idea for this event, but what an incredible follow-through.” -anonymous, 60
