The Baumer Quartet had its origin in 2003 at the Cleveland Institute of Music as the Kashii Quartet. In 2005 the Kashii were awarded the Silver Medal in both the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition. They have worked with members of the Alban Berg, Vogler, Emerson, Takacs, Borromeo, Brentano, Orion, St. Lawrence, and Juilliard String Quartets, as well as Isaac Stern in the 2001 “Stern Encounters” master class series. In addition, they were selected to participate in the International Artist Program at Music@Menlo. They also served on the faculty of the Innsbrook Music Festival. With David Tanenbaum, the quartet recorded Aaron Jay Kernis’s “100 Greatest Dance Hits” on the Black Box label.
The Baumer Quartet is dedicated to educating and inspiring young musicians. They were invited on faculty for the 2011 summer strings programs at the Crowden School in Berkeley, California, and Monterey, California in June 2012. Members of the Baumer Quartet performed at the inaugural concert of the Carmel Performing Arts Festival as well as at the Steinbeck Center, El Estero Hall and the Monterey Plaza on the Monterey Peninsula. As individuals, all are accomplished artists and teachers.
