The Luna Trio

Jennifer Wey violin - Mayumi Tsuchida, piano - Tessa Seymour, cello

The Luna Trio was created in 2001 when its founding members Doori Na, violin and Mayumi Tsuchida, piano were only 10 years old. Formed as part of the Preparatory Chamber Music Program of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the Luna Trio won the State MTAC VOCE Competition in 2004. In 2005, they performed at the World Trade Club of San Francisco; a Chamber Music America Conference at Herbst Hall; the “West Coast Live” radio program; and, they made a pre concert appearance at the Smuin Ballet. In 2004, 2005 and 2006, the Luna Trio were chosen to participate in the Yehudi Menuhin Chamber Music Seminar, and appeared in master classes for Aglika Angelova Jean- Michel Fonteneau, and Emile Naoumoff.

In February 2006, the Luna Trio performed on the national radio program “From The Top”, a showcase for America’s pre-college classical talent. The performance, sponsored by Stanford Lively Arts brought the following comment from Steven Winn, San Francisco Chronicle "The Luna Trio swaggered through movement from Dvorak's "Dumky" Trio with bracing confidence!" The performance was aired April 23, 2006 on KDFC. In March, 2006, The Luna Trio performed at the University of Judaism, Los Angeles and the Crossroads High School for Arts and Science; and, May 2006 found them in South Bend, Indiana as finalists in the Junior Fischoff National Chamber Music <competition></competition>

As the Trio prepares for 2007, they welcome Jennifer Wey as the new violinist of the Luna Trio, and look forward to another exciting year of chamber music. Thanks to the dedication of their parents, the Luna Trio meets weekly at the Conservatory to study chamber music where they currently receive coaching by Susan Bates and Miles Graber. Instrumental in their development have been Doris Fukawa and Machiko Kobialka. The Luna Trio is an affiliate of the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music.
